i dont think we're in kansas anymore

Earlier this month, Disney released it's latest film, The Great and Powerful Oz. Based on the characters from the original 1939 flick, The Wizard of Oz, starring the fabulous Judy Garland, this modern take on the classic tale tells the story of the how Oz came to be; a prequel, if you will. With the exception of Garland's undeniable talent and her equally as stunning ruby encrusted heels, I was never really a huge fan of the original.
Don't get me wrong, I love a good musical, but something about that army of suit wearing monkeys, lead by a real life version of my seven year old self's biggest fear, made the film less than enjoyable.
Thirteen years later, I find the whole thing quite hilarious.
Grown men in quite elaborate animal suits and chic tin gear… that's good stuff.
So when I heard that Disney was going to tell the story before the story, I was thrilled. I've always found prequels and sequels to be utterly entertaining and interesting. Though they usually take away from the original film, it's always fascination to learn more about the characters. Or maybe that's just the writer in me talking…
In any case, I was determined to see this movie. So determined that I researched the actors, the screenplay, the trailers, all of it!
Okay…let's cut the garbage, shall we?
In truth, I heard who would be playing the character of Oz,
and I was instantly obsessed.
James Franco.
James fricken Franco.
That luscious thick brown hair.
The dark deep set eyes.
That incredibly sexy chiseled jaw line.
Hubba-Hubba, mama likey.
Putting my feverish female fantasy aside, he is quite the actor.
Although, I have to admit, I'm very interested in seeing how his latest role turns out..
Thugged up rasta gangster who tries (and succeeds) to coherence teen girls into running drugs and packing heat?
Should be juicy.
Not to mention the kinky threesome with girls who used to star on Barney and Friends…
Ticket for one, please!
Filmed along side Ashley Benson (Pretty Little Liars), Vanessa Hudgens (High School Musical), Selena Gomez (Wizards of Waverly Place), and newcomer to the scene Rachel Korine, James Franco definitely has his hands full of ex-Disney dolls.
In any case, he's a fab actor and Oz was a fab movie.
Below are some fun finds that I've been staring at since seeing the movie..
And of course, to kick things off, OPI's latest collection….

left to right - top to bottom :
Lights of Emerald City
Don't Burst My Bubble
When Monkeys Fly
Glint of Glinda
Which is Witch
I Theadora You
What Wizardry is This? (liquid sand combination)

And now, the pièce de résistance…

Just adorable.
Seth Rogan and James Franco circa Pineapple Express

lots of love xo

**Since writing this post, my sister and her girlfriends went to see Spring Breakers. After leaving the theatre, she called me right away. These were her first words,
"Worst. Movie. Ever.
Biggest piece of $&!^ I've ever seen."
Aside from the less than lady-like choice of wording, I was shocked. I know the trailer looks absolutely ridiculous and was put together quick poorly (in my opinion), I honestly thought this movie would be one of those "so-bad-it's-good" types. Guess not…
Either way, I'll still be seeing it this weekend, in the hopes that **fingers crossed** James Franco does not disappoint. Stay tuned!**
