inspiration

While browsing around a few of my favourite nail blogs, sites, and groups, I found a few spring/summer designs that I absolutely love.
Here is a sneak peak at a few mani ideas I'll be sharing this month.

Lilac pastel with detailed accent nail design

LOVE this. Neon splatter design.

Turquoise base, gold leaf top coat

Hues of pink, sparkle accents, and gold stud appliqué

Nautical nail design. I haven't tried a mani with a different design on each nail yet, but I thought this might be a fun way to start.

Leopard print, gold studs, hot pink. So girly and ghetto fab, but I love it.

Colour-block brights with gold stud appliqué.

And last but not least, bright white base with ombré colour.

ready, set…swim

With the warm spring breeze (finally) rushing through my recently coloured hair, I think it's (finally) safe to say that spring is on it's way in my part of the world. And for this girl, that means three things:

1. Packing away those bulky (but cute) winter coats
2. Sporting the latest additions to my summer wedge and sandal collection
3. And breaking out the swimsuits.. FINALLY!

Last summer I worked full time at my dad's place. Which unfortunately meant long pants, shoulders covered, hair pulled back and absolutely no jewelry.
*Note to new readers - I work as an intern in an Agriculture factory. I'm usually in the office, but I need  to be in the factory about 40% of the time. Which means hair off my face, legs and arms covered, no accessories, hard hat (gag me - it's bright yellow), steel toe boots (don't even get me started…), and safety glasses (they look awesome overtop of my Versace prescription frames….)*
While the paycheque makes all of the above mentioned tragedies more than doable, it does make summer a bit dreary.
This year, I hope to change things up a bit and try to be outside more - After work, on weekends, whenever. There's a running club that some of the neighbourhood participates in daily that I was invited to join, and while that would give me a legitimate excuse to (finally) wear my sweet Nike runners, it would also mean that I have to actually run. See my dilemma? Ya, I know, tough life.
So in the spirit of all things spring, here is my personal list
of favourite places to buy swimsuits (some in store, others online)...

1. Victoria's Secret (obviously)
Anyone who says this brand is overexposed, over-sensationalized,
overpriced, etc., is probably right, but there's a reason for that, dear.
Great quality, fantastic selection, flawless fit, and affordable pricing?
In all seriousness, I highly recommend ordering/shopping for all your swim needs here.
I even convinced my mother into ordering, explaining
that yes, they have the "support system" you need.

2. Winners
I realize this is a Canadian retail chain, but since we lowly Canadians
cannot partake in JCP, Nordstrom, Macy's, Saks, and the list goes on for days,
Winners is our version of Macy's. Let us have it.

3. Target
Words alone cannot express the immense love I have for this department store.
And the thought of being able to drive fifteen minutes to this little slice of heaven in the coming months, makes my heart burst as a shoppers dream comes true.
To whom ever decided to pull the trigger and expand to Canada, we salute you.
For as long as I can remember, my mum, sister, and all our girlfriends, would take pre-summer trips across the border to hit this fab location. Their bathing suits, while not quite beaming with overly fantastic craftsmanship, are so fun and afforadable that you forget that you're department store shopping (kinda) and revel in the array of sweet summer steals.

4. Betsey Johnson
The One and Only. Literally nothing else really needs to be said about this fabulous, over the top, adorable woman. I can only hope to have a fraction of your spunk and lust for life, you sweet, sweet lady. All of this energy and charm translates perfectly to her entire collection, including swimwear. 'Nuff said. **Cartwheel**

A few weeks ago I stumbled upon a few really fab swimsuit sites, and I'd love to add them up on here, but I have yet to test out the suits, so for now, this is my list of go-to swim shopping, and where my lovely little collection is from.

Until we can hit the beach in style (finally)….

easter fashion

Here is a quick look at what I wore on Easter Sunday.
Keep in mind, in my part of the world, the snow banks are still piled up six feet high and are only just beginning to dissipate. So, although I would have absolutely loved to wear my new pleated chiffon skirt and floral top, it was just not possible this time around.
Wasn't the first day of spring a few weeks ago?!
I guess Mother Nature didn't get the memo...
